Melissa is back as a reoccurring judge on season two Food Network’s hit primetime competition show, “Guy’s Grocery Games.” But, in this special episode, she’s the one competing! Past “Food Network Star” winners – Melissa d’Arabian, Jeff Mauro, Aaron McCargo, Jr., and Justin Warner – take to the aisles to compete on behalf of their favorite charities. Melissa has chosen to compete for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), an organization very close to Melissa’s heart as she lost her mother to suicide 25 years ago. See more about Melissa’s support of AFSP and her personal experience here on AFSP’s website; plus, read Melissa’s story in Parade Magazine. In this episode: First, host Guy Fieri tells the chefs to make a lunchtime favorite only using 5 ingredients or less. Then, the chefs are challenged to make a steakhouse dinner with only $9.99 in a Budget Battle. The two finalists compete in one of the most difficult games yet, One Ingredient Per Aisle, in which they pull out all the stops to make the best dish for a good cause.
Judges include: Judy Joo, Troy Johnson, Catherine McCord
About the show: Four talented chefs compete in supermarket-themed cooking challenges as they must navigate their way through the aisles, adhering to “real-world” obstacles doled out by host Guy Fieri. Whether it is shopping on a budget, substituting out-of-stock ingredients or grabbing groceries at closing time, the contenders have to shop, prepare, and plate three different dishes using whatever they can pull off the shelves. Ultimately, the food does the talking, as one-by-one the losing chefs “check out,” with the last chef standing going on a shopping spree of a lifetime worth up to $20,000!
